We have more than 40 years experience working on Stearmans. From ground loops to flip-overs, the often tricky landings of Stearmans keep us in business. We can repair empennage or airframe damage as well. Perhaps your wing wood is just old and the fabric is cracking. We can help you out with new wood and new cover. If need be we can load your project into a Penske truck and drive it cross country to our Oregon shop location.

Non-Stearman Full Service Vintage Restoration

Besides the Stearman we are proud of the many other vintage aircraft restorations we have completed over the years. 

We recently restored a 1929 Bellanca Pacemaker from a pile of parts. It was a true basket case. With the visionary support of the plane’s owner, our talented crew brought it back to life. On completion we were able to fly it from Oregon up through the Inside Passage to the Arctic Circle, delivering it to the owner in Norman Wells, Northwest Territories.

Another memorable restoration was the Beechcraft Staggerwing VT-AKK, a plane that was shipped to India straight from the factory back in 1938. It served in the Indian National Airways and was imported back into the USA in the 1970’s as a derelict basket case. Our crew and the plane’s owner brought this interesting piece of history back to the skies after 60 years of being grounded. The plane has since gone on to receive many awards.

Free Bamboo Bomber

Free Cessna T50 Crane “Bamboo Bomber” with Restoration Contract with Big Sky Stearman. This is serial number 0112 out of 6,000 built. It was delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force in Cessna’s first delivery of 600 aircraft as the Crane in 1941. It had been stored in the Idaho desert for 40 years. Consequently the metal work and tubing is in good condition, but the plane would need all new wood. We are in a position to build the 42’ wood wing and the empennage for the airplane. It has a current Registration and Airworthiness Certificate.
