Oct 2024: Information for Pilots who have received an Invitation:

2024: Here is the information for Pilots who have been Invited to Fly In with their unique aircraft to this year's Sandy River Fly-In on October 5, 2024. Due to limited Aircraft Parking, please confirm with John Pike if you can Fly your plane in. (All others who did not receive an invitation to fly in, but wish to drive in and join the fun - please RSVP to john@bigskystearman.com by October 2, 2024.)

SCHEDULE:

Arrive between 10am and 11am: Pilots, Please arrive before 11am so the socializing can begin. Our Big Sky Stearman shop will be OPEN for tours and snacks.

Lunch at Noon: Lunch will be from Noon to 1pm in the Airport Lodge. It’s free! (Donations accepted.) Fly-In and Food hosted by the Hoffman family, owners of the airport.

Guest Speaker at 1pm: Our Guest Speaker is Shawn Hokuf, Delta Captain and Stearman Owner/Pilot. At 1pm Shawn will share stories about his international flights and the restorations of WWII fighters by the Hokuf brothers, operators of AirCorps in Bimigi, Minesota. (AirCorpsAviation.com) Their latest project was a P47 Thunderbolt that they rescued out of the New Ginea jungle. It won Warbird First Place at Oshkosh this year.

REVIEW AIRPORT OBSTACLES.

- Check out airnav.com/airport/03s for details about runway obstacles.

- Runway is rough with obstacles on both sides.

- Runway has a Displaced Threshold at the East End, so the published 2,115 ft is not accurate.

- Ultralights and LSAs will be using RIGHT Pattern and 600' AGL TPA.

- RADIO FREQUENCY is 122.8 - all attending MUST have a working radio.

- Bring your own Tie Downs.

PLEASE REVIEW AIRCRAFT PARKING MAP: Please be familiar with the parking design so you can easily move into place. The small aircraft will turn to face runway, while the large aircraft will pull into position to face the car parking lot.

NO MATTER THE WEATHER, IT’S ON!

Rain or shine, we are determined to make this fly-in happen, even if it means converting it into a drive-in only and relocating the festivities inside the cozy confines of the Sandy River Airport Lodge.
